Structured filler is a type of filler arranged and stacked in a uniform geometric shape within the tower. The geometric shape of the entire tower section is regular, symmetrical, and uniform, and the gas-liquid flow path is clear, reducing channel flow and wall flow phenomena, and the pressure drop can be very small. At the same energy cost and pressure drop, it can provide a larger specific surface area than random fillers, and achieve higher mass and heat transfer efficiency at the same volume. Meanwhile, due to the uniformity, regularity, and symmetry of its structure, when it has the same specific surface area as random packing, its porosity and flux are greater, and its comprehensive processing capacity is much greater than that of tray towers and random filler towers. After careful design, manufacturing, installation, and operation of tower components (such as gas-liquid distributors), the industrial amplification effect is not significant. In recent decades, structured fillers have been widely used in many towers in fields such as fine chemical, spice, refining, fertilizer, and petrochemical industries.
